Does 1/3 of the world adhere to Christianity because of its inherent truth or due to capitalist expansionism?

It's not like Christianity has won over a good percentage of the the world through bloodshed and tyranny as much as through love, right? The first industrialized nations being predominately Christian didn't have any bearing upon those countries they subsequently colonized, did it? Imperialism and Christianity don't have any correlation, do they?
